Brave Foundation Research

We believe that if women facing teenage pregnancy have access to support, they have the opportunity, with time, to grow a happy, healthy, skilled family, with healthy children.

We also believe there are gaps in the system, and due to these, this outcome is often not achieved. We have recognised three areas of research which will support our desired outcome:

  • We will perform desk top, worldwide research of best practice of women facing unexpected pregnancy continuing their education and early access to community support services.
  • Examination of tertiary content in Education, Medicine and Midwifery courses, relating to encouraging pregnant and parenting teens with their education and well being from early pregnancy through to parenting, creating a culture of support in health professional’s education for these women and their families.
  • Examine best practice delivery of services. Brave Foundation believes that services exist but are not provided early enough for a long term positive outcomes.

Brave Foundation Website

Brave Foundation aims to build a comprehensive list of community service providers Australia Wide, that deliver parenting, health, social and wellbeing support to young women experiencing unplanned pregnancy and parenting.

Brave Foundation also aims to assist and promote specifically designed education, training programs and policies for women facing unexpected pregnancy, specifically years 11 and 12. We will be promoting and equipping education for these women in standard secondary schooling, correspondence schooling, and other educational options. We hope to provide affiliation between educational facilities. Like the community list of service providers, we will do this by providing a directory of educational services state by state in Australia, as a primary, early point of reference for people experiencing shock, loneliness and isolation which is often associated with unexpected pregnancy and parenting.

Tasmania will be the pilot state for the Brave Foundation Website and then will be marketed to other states Australia Wide. Referral services will be collaborated on our website, and will be continually being updated and expended.

This site will provide immediate support and encouragement to women, and their families facing unexpected pregnancy through emotional support, counselling and education referral.

Public Awareness Reform

We believe that if the website is heavily marketed the Australian community, will start to change public perception about women facing teenage and unplanned pregnancy overtime.

We aim to see Australian States supporting these women on the front foot, rather than on the back foot as it can appear now. This will further equip these women in becoming a part of a happy healthy family unit, and their value as a member of our Australian Community.
